MDWFA History The Maryland Waterfowler's Association (MDWFA) was created in 2005 as the successor organization to the Potomac River Waterfowler's Association. The Maryland Waterfowler's Association is the only waterfowl hunters' organization in Maryland dedicated exclusively to the needs of waterfowl hunters in Maryland. Formed in 1993 as a grass root organization that successfully addressed the confused and conflicted regulations on the Non-tidal Potomac, the Maryland Waterfowler's Association has grown into an effective voice for waterfowlers across the state. A decade later the challenges are just as great. State budget limitations, pressure at the local, state and national levels from the anti-hunting lobby and development, continue to threaten the future of waterfowling in this state. Now, after twelve years, the Maryland Waterfowler's Association has the same mission and passion of those same two founders and several new officers, backed by an organized army of waterfowlers. We strive to improve our sport. Since 1993 the Maryland Waterfowler's Association has expanded its membership across the state from the Potomac to the Eastern Shore, from Garrett to Worcester County. Our growth beyond the Potomac River is to represent you, so that you have a voice in the future of waterfowling in Maryland. Members new and old remember those great battles fought during the past 13 years in Maryland to preserve access to vital waterfowling areas and unscrew the myriad of antiquated laws in Maryland that regulated hunting. The Maryland Waterfowler's Association was there at the forefront with two men who united hundreds to stand up and be heard.
